If you ever roll out of bed and dread the workday that’s before you, you’re not alone. However, when you start viewing your job as a part of your God-given purpose, it becomes easier to engage every day as an opportunity instead of an obligation.
While you may think that you have the job that you have because of your own abilities or because someone did you a favor, it’s important to understand that it was God who put you in the position that you’re in. If you’ve never viewed your job as a form of ministry, today is the day to start. You are in the right place at the right time to fulfill the things that God wants you to do.
Pray These Verses:
Colossians 3:23-24 (NIV)
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.
Ephesians 6:6-8 (NIV)
Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart. Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people, because you know that the Lord will reward each one for whatever good they do, whether they are slave or free.
Ecclesiastes 9:10 (NIV)
Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the realm of the dead, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom.
Pray This Prayer:
Heavenly Father, first, I want to thank You for the job that I have. I know that Your Word promises that You will provide for me, and I believe that You have placed me at my workplace as a means of fulfilling that promise.
You know exactly what I need in the natural realm, and the money that I am able to make at my job allows me to pay for those needs. Thank You for fulfilling that promise. Remind me that the work I do matters, especially when I feel like I am running a never-ending race.
Help me to stop viewing my work as an obligation, instead seeing it as an opportunity. Help me to work at it with all my heart, not only trying to please those in authority over me when they’re watching. I will perform my work with all my might because I know that it is pleasing to You. In Christ’s name, Amen.
Thank God:
Heavenly Father, I thank You for the job that I have. I am fully aware that there are millions of people today who wish they had a job like mine. I know that I don’t deserve these blessings, but I am where I am because of Your grace, love, and mercy.
Thank You for the people I work with, the people I work for, and the opportunities that You present to me daily. In Christ’s name, Amen.
