A Prayer for Those Recovering from Hurricane Ian

2 Mins read

Roughly a week ago, Hurricane Ian, with its winds of 155 MPH, torrential rains, and other elements slammed into Florida, leading to widespread power outages, physical injuries, damage to homes and business, and even death. As the days go by, the number of those impacted by Hurricane Ian continues to increase. Today, spend some time praying for those who are living in Florida and have been impacted by the storm that hit Florida near the end of September.

Pray These Verses
Deuteronomy 31:8-9 (NIV)
The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid’ do not be discouraged.”

Romans 15:13 (NIV)
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy spirit.

Romans 8:26-28 (NIV)
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God. And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Pray This Prayer:
Heavenly Father, today, I lift the people who have been impacted by Hurricane Ian to You in prayer. I know that they are facing uncertainty, and every day seems to bring about more news about devastation that we didn’t know about the day before. First of all, I ask that You hold back the storm surges that many meteorologists are saying will come into the area in the next few days. The people who are working tirelessly to rebuild need a break in the weather, and I know that the weather is in the palm of Your hands. Furthermore, continue to strengthen the people who are trying to recover and rebuild their homes and places of work. I know that they are facing uncertainty, and uncertainty brings fear, but You have promised that You will go before us and will be with us. Most of all, fill those who are recovering from the storms with hope. I know that You are capable of using everything for good. In Christ’s name, Amen.

Thank God:
Heavenly Father, I thank You for being a God who does not run away from us in our times of trouble. I thank You for sending people to help those who have been impacted by Hurricane Ian. Thank You for providing people with the mental, physical, and spiritual strength needed to help those who have faced devastation in the storm. Most of all, thank You for always being present, and for being a God who fills us with hope, even in hopeless situations. In Christ’s name, Amen.
