The Christmas season is one of the most popular times for those who are looking for opportunities to volunteer. It is also widely considered one of the times of the year in which people give to local and national charities. While giving is a wonderful way to show the love of Christ to those who are less fortunate, it is also important that we pray for those who are struggling during the holiday season. Today, ask God to protect them and to bless them, even when things look bleak.
Pray These Verses
Psalm 41:1-2 (NIV)
Blessed are those who have regard for the weak; the Lord delivers them in times of trouble. The Lord protects and preserves them-they are counted among the blessed in the land-he does not give them over to the desire of their foes.
James 2:14-17 (NIV)
What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, “Go in peace, keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.
Isaiah 41:17 (NIV)
“The poor and needy search for water, but there is none; their tongues are parched with thirst. But I the Lord will answer them; I, the God of Israel will not forsake them.
Pray This Prayer:
Heavenly Father, the holiday season always causes me to evaluate exactly how blessed I am. I know that as I read these verses that there are people out there who are struggling financially and personally this holiday season. Your Word declares that You will answer their cries and that You will not forsake them in their hardship.
Today, I ask You to watch over those who are barely making it. Protect them, keep them, and bless them with blessings that are beyond their wildest dreams. Also, show me ways that I can help them on a practical level. Show me opportunities that I may have missed so I can have faith that comes with action. I know that the world is filled with people who are struggling, and I want to be part of the solution. In Christ’s name, Amen.
Thank God:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the things that You have blessed me with. I know that there are people struggling, and I know that You want to use me as a vessel to bless them. Thank You for allowing me to be a blessing to those who are less fortunate, especially during a time of year in which I am even more aware of Your goodness. Thank You for choosing to allow me to be an active part of Your Kingdom. In Christ’s name, Amen.
