When we read Scripture, there are some themes that run throughout the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. One such example of an ongoing theme in Scripture is God’s role as a deliverer for His people.
In Genesis, we read that He delivered Lot and his family from the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. In Exodus, He delivered His people from Egyptian captivity.
In the New Testament, Christ constantly delivered people from sickness, temptation, persecution, and more. If you find yourself needing divine deliverance today, the same God who delivered in Scripture stands at the ready to deliver you.
Pray These Verses
Matthew 6:13 (NIV)
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.
Psalm 32:6-7 (NIV)
Therefore let all the faithful pray to you while you may be found; surely the rising of the mighty waters will not reach them. You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.
Psalm 34:4-7 (NIV)
I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. Those who look on him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame. This poor man called, and the Lord heard him; he saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them.
Pray This Prayer
Heavenly Father, I come to You today asking for divine deliverance. In the Sermon on the Mount, Christ taught His followers how to pray, and He specifically said that we should ask for deliverance from temptation and sin. I know that You won’t lead me into temptation but deliver me when I find it on my own.
Satan wants to see me fall, but I know that the One who lives inside me is greater than the one of this world. When I face times of trouble, I know that You are a deliverer. You delivered Your people throughout Scripture, and I believe that You will deliver me with the same mighty power.
Finally, I can look back to the times where You have delivered me from all my fears. I have called on You, and You have heard me before, and I know that You will do it again. Let me feel Your presence as I wait on Your glorious deliverance. In Christ’s name I pray, Amen.
Thank God
Heavenly Father, thank You for the times that You have been a Deliverer for me. Much like David said, this poor person has cried out to You in the past, and I have seen the power of Your miraculous deliverance.
Thank You for being a God who is close to me at all times, but even closer in my times of peril and trouble. I know that You are for me, and there is nothing that can come against me to change that fact. Thank You. In Christ’s name, Amen.
