Anxiety is one of the most difficult things that millions of people face every day. In fact, multiple studies indicate that anxiety is the most commonly diagnosed mental health issue in the world today. If you’re one of the millions of people who battle against this issue, you are not alone.
In addition to seeking the professional medical help that God has made available to us, it’s also important that you ask for God to help you overcome the anxiety attacks that so many of us face. These attacks can leave you feeling paralyzed with fear and can bring about any host of other issues. Thankfully, our God is greater than anything that we face, including anxiety.
Pray These Verses
Psalm 94:18-19 (NIV)
When I said, “My foot is slipping,” your unfailing love, Lord, supported me. When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy.
Matthew 6:34 (NIV)
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV)
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Pray This Prayer
Heavenly Father, I need help to deal with the anxiety that feels like it is overtaking me. I feel like no matter where I look, I see trouble on every hand. It feels like the fear is winning even though I’m doing my best to hold onto my faith. Much like David, I feel like my foot is slipping. Help me to focus on the fact that Your unfailing love is going to support me.
Just like David said, my anxiety is great within me, but I know that You are a source of consolation and You can bring me joy in the face of my anxiety. Help me not to worry about the future, as I feel like most of my anxiety stems from a fear of what’s next. Instead of focusing on what I am afraid of in the future, help me to focus on Your presence in the present.
I need to feel Your peace today. I know that it doesn’t have to make sense, but I’m asking for Your peace that will guard my heart and my mind. In Christ’s name, Amen.
Thank God
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your faithfulness. In the face of things that seem too big for me to handle, I know that You are faithful. I know that I can rest in the fact that You have already established Yourself as victorious over everything that I would face.
Thank You for Your power being made manifest in my life. Thank You for understanding my fears and running to me in the face of them. In Christ’s name, Amen.
