Loving others is at the heart of everything that God wants us to do. It’s not uncommon for God’s people to try to discover God’s purpose for their lives. In fact, you’re encouraged to do that. While God has a unique purpose that only applies to you, there are other purposes that He has for all His people. One such example of these universal purposes is to love others. Today, allow the Holy Spirit to help you be more effective at walking in love.
Pray These Verses:
Ephesians 5:1-2 (NIV)
Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (NIV)
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.
Romans 13:8-10 (NIV)
Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law. The commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not covet,” and whatever other command there may be, are summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.
Pray This Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I know that the way that You love me gives me the ability to love others the right way. Help me to continually walk in love like Paul told the Church at Ephesus to. Help me to be patient, kind, not envious, not prideful, and not to be self-seeking. I don’t want to be easily angered, nor do I want to dishonor others. Instead, I want Your glorious love to change me from the inside out. Help me to fulfill Your law by loving others completely. I know that every commandment that You gave goes back to loving others, and that’s what I want to do in every area of my life. Loving others is Your purpose for me, and I want to be better at it. In Christ’s name, Amen.
Thank God:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the love that You have shown to me. I know without Your example of love gives me the ability to love others the way that You want me to. I love because You first loved me. Your love changes me, equips me, and strengthens me. I thank You for it today. In Christ’s name, Amen.
