Throughout Scripture, there are certain groups of people who God made sure that He made special provisions for, with orphans being one of those groups. According to a study published by UNICEF, there are approximately 153 million orphans in the world today. Take a moment today to allow these children, who are so precious in the eyes of God, to be the focus of your prayer.

Pray This Prayer
Father, I know that You are a God who loves and cares for the forgotten and the lonely, so today I’m asking specifically that You would provide special care for the 153 million orphans around the world. For thousands of years, You have made it clear that orphans are among the most important people in your eyes, continually taking the time to provide special care for them when You were instructing Your people. I know that You know the name of every parentless child, and that You have seen every tear that they have cried. Lord, bless the people who are caring for these orphans, in government facilities, orphanages, foster homes, and anywhere else that they are being cared for, as these people are fulfilling Your command to defend the weak and the fatherless. Lord, I pray specifically today that You would make it possible for loving couples who have a heart for adoption to fulfill those dreams by blessing them with the financial help that they need and a smooth process.
Additionally, I ask that You open the hearts of people who have never considered adoption to start thinking about it, as these 153 million children deserve the stability and love provided by a loving family. In the same way that You promised Your disciples that You would not leave them as orphans, I ask that the Holy Spirit visit these orphans, comforting them and allowing them to experience the kind of peace and love that only comes from You. I ask all of these favors and blessings over these precious children in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Father, today I thank You for being a God who takes the time to care for the most vulnerable among us, including the children who have no parents and don’t have the means to take care of themselves. Thank You for putting it in the hearts of some of Your people to create and work at orphanages where these children can receive the care that they need, while others have opened their home as foster parents. Thank You for the constantly proving that You don’t forget about any person, regardless of his or her standing, and your unrelenting care for the orphans.
