We are a little more than a week removed from Hurricane Ian, the fifth-strongest hurricane in recorded US history, and residents of Florida are fully entrenched in the process of rebuilding their lives. Many of them have lost homes, businesses, loved ones, and everything else due to the winds that ripped through the state at speeds in excess of 150 MPH, and rains that fell at such a rapid rate, that many areas in central Florida reported 20 inches of rain in less than 48 hours. In addition to praying for the people who are struggling to deal with the ramifications of Hurricane Ian, spend some time today praying for the frontline workers who are aiding Florida residents.
Pray These Verses:
Psalm 90:16-17 (NIV)
May your deeds be shown to your servants, your splendor to your children. May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us-yes, establish the work of our hands.
Colossians 3:23-24 (NIV)
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.
Isaiah 43:2 (NIV)
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; for the flames will not set you ablaze.
Pray This Prayer:
(Note: If you know any frontline workers who are aiding the relief efforts in Florida, mention their names specifically when you can during this prayer)
Heavenly Father, today I lift the men and women who are working on the frontline in the aftermath of Hurricane Ian to you. Even though I don’t know the name of every man and woman who have boots on the ground in the impacted areas, I know that You do. Encourage them today by showing them Your goodness. Let Your favor rest on them and establish their work. Be with them in whatever they face. Bless those who are working in the medical field, the men and women who have converged upon Florida to help restore electricity, and those who are dealing with cleanup efforts. Protect them, encourage them, and reward them for their willingness to serve You by serving others. In Christ’s name, Amen.
Thank God:
Heavenly Father, I thank You for people who are willing to give of themselves so freely so that they can help others recover from a storm that has altered their lives. Thank You for giving them the skills necessary to help people who are undoubtedly overwhelmed by the stress that they’re facing. Thank You for protecting them, keeping them, and encouraging them to continue to serve You by serving others. In Christ’s name, Amen.
