A Prayer for Wisdom

2 Mins read

God does not want His people to be ignorant about how to handle any situation that may arise in their lives. He has blessed us with a written copy of His Word so that we can better understand who He is and how He wants His people to handle everything that comes up in life.

Wisdom is a gift from God that He has made readily available to all His people. Today, if you feel like you are lacking Godly wisdom, you can have that! The Bible promises that God’s people can be as wise as we want to be.

Pray These Verses:

James 1:5 (NIV)
If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.

1 Corinthians 3:18 (NIV)
Do not deceive yourselves. If any of you think you are wise by the standards of this age, you should become “fools” so that you may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God’s sight. As it is written: “He catches the wise in their craftiness.”

Matthew 7:24 (NIV)
Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on a rock.

Pray This Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I know that Your idea of wisdom does not necessarily line up with the world’s idea of wisdom. While I know there is nothing wrong with being educated, I know that true Godly wisdom only comes from a personal, intimate relationship with You. I know that I need the kind of wisdom that only comes from Your Word to help me better understand how to handle situations that I face and the people I interact with on a daily basis.

Your Word declares that if I feel like I’m lacking wisdom that You will give it to me freely. That’s what I’m asking for today. I want a Godly wisdom that can only come by divine inspiration from the Holy Spirit. I know that every day of my life is a process in building my spiritual house, and I want it to exist on a firm foundation. Godly wisdom and an obedience to Your Word is the only way to have a foundation that can withstand any storm that comes against me. Make me wise. In Christ’s name, Amen.

Thank God:

My Father in Heaven, I thank You for the freedom that I have to ask You for everything that I need. Today, I need wisdom. I am grateful beyond measure for the fact that I can simply ask You for wisdom and know that I am going to receive it. I commit myself to the study of Your Word because I know that You will reveal everything I need to be a person who is wise in Your holy eyes. I thank You for your giving nature. In Christ’s name, Amen.
