A Prayer for Your Local Church

2 Mins read

The local church is God’s chosen vessel for spreading His Word to the world that we live in. In the Book of Acts, we see the birth of the New Testament Church. It came after the resurrection and ascension of Christ. Since Jesus was no longer going to be walking on the earth, He chose the body of believers to fulfill God’s plan for the rest of the world. Today, the church that you attend is a vital part of your local community. Spend some time praying for those in leadership and the people that you attend church with.

Pray These Verses
Hebrews 10:24-25 (NIV)
And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another-and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

Ephesians 4:11-13 (NIV)
So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

1 Corinthians 12:12-14 (NIV)
Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts for one body, so it is with Christ. For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body-whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free-and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many.

Pray This Prayer:
Heavenly Father, today I pray for my home church. Thank You for putting me in this body of believers so we can encourage one another and spur one another toward love and good deeds. Help me to refuse the temptation to become slack in my church attendance, especially as I see the Day of Your Son’s return approaching. I pray for everyone who serves in some capacity of church leadership within my church. The pastors, teachers, and evangelists who spread Your Word to my community are a vital part of Your Kingdom. Bless them, keep them, and protect them. Help us to seek unity among ourselves so that we can truly be one body. In Christ’s name, Amen.

Thank God:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the church that I attend. I am honored to be a part of a live-giving part of Your body. Thank You for my pastors and the leadership that they provide. Thank You for the teachers that we have who help us better understand Your Word. Thank You for my brothers and sisters who I worship with. Thank You for creating the local church and for the mission that You have given to us. In Christ’s name, Amen.
