The men and women who lead our churches today are some of the greatest blessings that God has given to His people. It’s important to note that the work that pastors perform goes far beyond delivering a Gospel message on Sunday mornings. Today, spend some time in prayer for your pastor or pastors.
Not only should you thank God for them, but you should also take time to pray for them, their families, and everything connected to them as they perform the work that God has called them to.
Pray These Verses:
Hebrews 13:17 (NIV)
Have confidence in your leaders and submit to their authority, because they keep watch over you as those who must given an account. Do this so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no benefit to you.
Jeremiah 3:15 (NIV)
Then I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will lead you with knowledge and understanding.
Ephesians 4:11-12 (NIV)
So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.
Pray This Prayer:
Heavenly Father, today, I thank you for my pastor. I know that You have called him/her to stand in a position of authority over our church. I also recognize that providing us with a message from Your Word every week is only a part of what they do.
I ask that You would give them the emotional and mental strength to deal with the host of problems that are constantly brought to them as they counsel and lead Your people. Give them the strength to endure the long hours necessary to visit the sick, care for the needy, prepare sermons, and do everything else necessary to lead our church.
Help my pastor/pastors to find the time to seek your heart like you said to the prophet, Jeremiah. Most of all, help me to submit to their authority and be a help to them. I know that You have not called me to be a pastor, but I believe that You want me to stand beside my pastor and help him/her in any way possible. Thank you for them. In Christ’s name, Amen.
Thank God:
Father in Heaven, I want to thank You for putting me under the authority of the pastor that You have placed over me. I know that he/she has been called and commissioned by the Holy Spirit to guide, lead, and protect the flock that You have set him/her over. I thank You for putting me in the church that I am in.
I thank You for the divine call that You have placed on the life of our church leadership. Most of all, I thank You for giving me a pastor who is there to equip me for service so that the entire body of Christ may be built up. In Christ’s name, Amen.
