A Prayer of Protection for Those Traveling for the Holidays

2 Mins read

The holiday season is upon us, and with it comes the opportunity to spend time with friends and family members while we observe Thanksgiving and Christmas. According to studies, the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons are the busiest travel times of year.

Millions of people take to the air and the roadways to go see their friends and family members who live around the country and around the world. Whether you’re the one traveling or you have friends and family members who are making travel arrangements, ask God to protect those who are traveling for the holidays.

Pray These Verses:

Psalm 91:9-11 (NIV)
If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,” and you make the Most High your dwelling, no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways;

Deuteronomy 31:8 (NIV)
“The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”

James 4:13-15 (NIV)
Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.”

Pray This Prayer:

Heavenly Father, as we begin to make holiday preparations, I ask You to keep Your hand on those who are traveling. Whether it is by land or by air, I know that You are our refuge. You are our dwelling. I ask that You command Your angels to keep those who are traveling this holiday season. Protect them on the roadways, give their pilots the knowledge and the ability to safely transport them from Point A to Point B. I know that You go before Your people to protect us in every area of our lives. I ask You to keep everyone safe who is making their plans and do not let any harm come to them. Protect my friends and my family members who are traveling. If any of my plans involve me traveling, keep me safe. In Christ’s name, Amen.

Thank God:

Heavenly Father, thank You for all the things that this holiday season is about. I know that there are spiritual principles of praise and gratefulness during Thanksgiving. I know that Christmas is the celebration of Your Son’s birth, and I am thankful for that. Thank You for the chance to gather with the people who I love the most to observe these celebrations. Thank You for giving me people in my life who love me. I know that the relationships I have are a beautiful gift from You. In Christ’s name, Amen.
