God loves giving His children good and perfect gifts. In fact, James wrote that every good and perfect thing in our lives is the result of God’s generosity and love for His people. Our relationship with our Heavenly Father is meant to mirror the relationship of a child with a loving father.
Good fathers love to give their children blessings when their children ask for them, and our Father in Heaven is certainly no different. Today, don’t only ask God for His blessings in your life, but ask Him to show you any areas in your life where you may not be in the best possible position to receive those blessings.
Pray These Verse:
Deuteronomy 28:1-2 (NIV)
If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above the nations on earth. All these blessings will come on you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God.
Philippians 4:19 (NIV)
And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.
Matthew 7:9-11 (NIV)
“Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!”
Pray This Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I know that You want to bless Your children. Today, I am humbly asking for Your blessings in every area of my life. Before I can expect to receive those blessings, I know that Your Word declares that there is a correlation between Your blessings and my obedience.
In the same way that Moses told the Israelites that they needed to be obedient before they could expect blessings, I know that I need to do the same thing. Show me if there are any areas in my life where I am living in disobedience and give me the strength to change those disobedient behaviors.
I know that You want to bless me, but that You also want me to live a life that aligns with Your Word. I not only ask for Your blessings on my life, but I also ask You to show me how I can become more obedient. In Christ’s name, Amen.
Thank God:
Heavenly Father, thank You for being a kind, generous, loving Father. Thank You for promising that You will meet all of my needs according to Your riches in the glory of Your Son. Thank You for setting the perfect example of a loving Father and being committed to blessing Your children with every good thing.
I know that there is nothing I can do to earn those blessings, but You want to give them to me anyway. For that I am eternally grateful. In Christ’s name, Amen.
