One of the most important aspects of living a Christian life is the presence of Godly friends. When you have other people in your life who are pursuing the same type of Godly goals that you’re pursuing, it becomes much easier for you to resist temptation, make time for Bible study, prayer, and other Godly activities, and it provides you with someone to go to when you need accountability.
If you feel like you don’t have enough (or any) Godly friends in your life, God can change that today. Even if you don’t consider yourself an extroverted person, you can ask the Lord to send Godly friends into your life.
Pray These Verses:
Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 (NIV)
Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. Also, it two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three stands is not quickly broken.
1 Thessalonians 5:11 (NIV)
Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.
Proverbs 27:17 (NIV)
As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.
Pray This Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I thank You for the people that You have already placed in my life. The friends that I have and the family that I’m a part of bring me so much joy and happiness. However, I know that I need more Godly friends in my life so that I can experience what it’s like to have iron sharpen iron. I’m thankful for the people in my life who don’t yet know You, and I know that You love them even more than me.
However, I need some people in my life who can help me up when I fall down. I need some people in my life who can keep me warm when I find myself lying down alone. I need people who are as committed to their pursuit of discipleship as I am. Father, help me to put myself out there so that I can form new friendships with people who are a part of Your family. I ask all of these things in the name of Jesus, Amen.
Thank God:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the people in my life that You’ve already blessed me with. I know that human connection is one of the most powerful tools that You use to help Your people continue on the path of Godly living. Thank You for the people in my life who don’t know You, as their presence allows me the opportunity to share the truth of Your Gospel with someone. Most of all, I thank You in advance for the Godly friends that You are sending into my life. In Christ’s name, Amen.
