In your daily life, you likely encounter discouragement in various forms. For instance, you may be forced to interact with negative people, or deal with a mental illness or disability.
No matter what might discourage you, it’s important to know that you don’t always have to accept it as is. In fact, here are a few ways to be brave and defeat discouragement.
Be Firm in Your Beliefs
Discouragement isn’t only an irritation, it’s meant to challenge you to improve your Spirit. This means life is trying to bring you down. When you allow this to happen, your giving up when you deserve better. Therefore, instead of letting life discourage you stand firmly in your beliefs, and have Faith in God.
Pray for Encouragement
Rather than allow discouragement to destroy your Spirit, fight back with your Faith in God. Here’s a short yet powerful Prayer you can say in the morning from BacktotheBible.org: Lord, Jesus, today is Your day, and I want Your will to be done. So, whatever happens, hold my hand and let’s face it together. Amen.
Inspire Yourself to Be Positive
Consequently, discouragement often threatens to defeat one’s Spirit. When this happens, try having a more positive mindset. Besides this, let this verse give you strength for the day ahead:
Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
Have Self-Confidence
It’s easy to be discouraged when you don’t believe in yourself. It’s important to love yourself, so you have the strength you need to face life’s challenges. You can try repeating positive affirmations to yourself to be kinder to yourself. If you feel self loathing, forgive yourself, and make every effort to gain self-love again.
Stand Up to Disbelievers
Someone who lacks Faith in God may be called a disbeliever. When these bullies try to harm your Spirit with harsh words or other cruel actions, consider standing up to them. Your health, well-being and happiness depend on how well you treat yourself and how well others treat you.
Remember, forgiveness is the key to being grateful:
Ephesians 4:32
And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.
When You Fall, Get Back Up
There are even times when discouragement might bring your Spirit down, but this doesn’t mean you have to give up on your Faith in God. In fact, imagine God is testing you. Wouldn’t it feel good to rise above your challenges?
Allow Your Faith to Give You Strength
Prayer has the power to strengthen your Spirit, and give you the Faith you need to endure difficult situations. Furthermore, believing in Heaven is easier when you have God. This verse about Prayer can help you open your mind and Spirit:
Luke 11:9
And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
Commit to Your Beliefs
Committing to your beliefs can be compared to a marriage commitment. For one, if you don’t commit to your spouse, your marriage will fall apart. Similarly, if you don’t stick to your Faith in God and Prayer, your Spirit will suffer. And commit to living by these words:
1 Thessalonians 5:17
Pray without ceasing.
Although defeating discouragement can be a challenge, you deserve to beat it. Each time you do, you’ll have more self-respect and a stronger Faith in God. You deserve to find Heaven on earth when you make an honest effort.
