One of God’s greatest joys is to see His people truly understand His Word. Unfortunately, we often struggle to truly grasp what Scripture is saying. There are cultural concepts that often make it difficult to understand, there are language barriers that, even while we have the Bible translated into English, can leave us with questions, and much more.
However, God promises that He will grant wisdom, understanding, and revelation to those who ask for it. While there are mysteries about God that we continue to seek answers to, He doesn’t have those in place because He wants to hide parts of Himself from us. Instead, He wants us to pursue Him, and one of the best ways to do that is through His Word. Today, pray for understanding and divine revelation when it comes to Scripture.

I meditate on your precepts and consider your ways. I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your word. Be good to your servant while I live, that I may obey your word. Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law.
Colossians 2:3-4 (NIV)
My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
James 1:5-8 (NIV)
If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wins. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.
Pray This Prayer
Heavenly Father, I want to know You more deeply. I want to learn more of Your character so I can love you deeper than I ever have before. I know that the only way to do that is through Scripture, but there are times where I struggle to understand what the Bible says. Help me to understand the Bible more clearly. Give me divine revelation when I’m reading. Open my eyes, Lord. Open my eyes so that I can see the wonderful things in Your Word. Show me the things that You want me to know about You through Scripture. In Christ’s name, Amen.

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word. Thank You for inspiring the men and women who wrote it through the power of the Holy Spirit. Thank You for giving wisdom to anyone who would ask You for it. Thank You for loving me so much that You want me to know You in the same way that You know me. In Christ’s name, Amen.
