Not Defeated: A Prayer for Victory

2 Mins read

What are you battling against today? Perhaps you are dealing with resentment against someone who has done something hurtful to you. Maybe your battle is against a type of temptation that has left you feeling like you are powerless.

Your battle may be against your own insecurities, addictions, or any other things in life that are holding you back. No matter what you are battling against, you have been promised the victory through your relationship with Christ. Today, don’t only pray for victory, but thank God for the victory that He has already given to His people.

Pray These Verses

Deuteronomy 20:4 (NIV)
“For the Lord your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory.”

Romans 8:31-37 (NIV)
What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all-how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died-more than that, who was raised to life-is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

Pray This Prayer

Heavenly Father, You know how tired I am from fighting this battle. I feel like I have done everything I can do to continue to stand, but I also know that at the end of my strength, I can find your provision. Your Word promises me that You will go with me so You can fight for me.

I know that I am not alone, and as long as You are with me, I am promised victory. What can I say to the things that are fighting against me? I say that if You are for me, what dares to come against me. I am more than a conqueror because I am Yours. In Christ’s name, Amen.

Thank God

Heavenly Father, today, I thank You for the assurance of victory in even the darkest of situations. Thank You for assuring me that every battle that I fight has already been won because I am not the one who is fighting.

Instead, the Holy Spirit within me, the Son beside me, and the Father surrounding me ensures that I have the victory. Thank You for the peace of mind that comes from knowing that my enemies will be used as Your footstool. In Christ’s name, Amen.
