If you take a minute and consider all of the things that you have in your life, it won’t take you long to recognize that you are incredibly blessed.
In addition to recognizing your own blessings, which rain from material things to intangible blessings, it also forces you to acknowledge that there are countless people in your community who don’t have the things that you may take for granted.
In addition to looking for ways to be blessing to those people, spend some time today praying for the people around you who are less fortunate than you.
Pray These Verses
Psalm 9:9 (TPT)
All who are oppressed may come to you as a shelter in the time of trouble, a perfect hiding place.
Luke 6:20-21 (TPT)
Looking intently at his followers, Jesus began his sermon. “How enriched you become when you are poor, for you will experience the reality of God’s kingdom realm. How filled you become when you are consumed with hunger and desire, for you will be completely satisfied.”
Isaiah 25:4 (TPT)
For you have been a stronghold to the poor, a stronghold to the needy in his distress, a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat; for the breath of the ruthless is like a storm against a wall.
Pray This Prayer:
Father, today I am more mindful than usual of the people around me, right here in my community who do not have the things that I have and the comforts that I have access to. I know that there are people living in my community who do not know where their next meal is going to come from or where they’re going to sleep tonight.
Moreover, there are people who do know where they’re sleeping tonight and what they’re eating, but they are still facing financial issues that are holding them captive, leaving them wondering how they’re going to provide for their families.
Lord, I know that all of those who are oppressed can come to You as a shelter in a time of trouble, and that You are a perfect hiding place for them.
Lord, today I’m asking that You help those who are less fortunate would recognize Your presence and find comfort in the fact that You are with them today. Father, You are a stronghold to the poor and the needy who are facing distress, and a shelter from the storm.
The less fortunate around me need a safe place to be, and I’m asking that You protect them and help them find the help that they need. I ask all of these things in the name of Christ, Amen.
Thank God
Lord, today I thank You for the fact that You have given me the ability to help those around me who are less fortunate than I am.
Thank You for the churches and other community organizations in my area who help provide shelter, food, and clothing to those who need it. Thank You for being a protector and provider for those who are struggling financially around me.
