Praying for Our Families

2 Mins read

Heavenly Father,

We come before you today with hearts full of gratitude and love for the precious gift of family that you have bestowed upon us. Your Word reminds us in Psalm 127:3, “Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him.” We thank you for our family members and the bonds that unite us.

We pray for unity among us, as stated in Colossians 3:13-14: “Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.” May our love for one another be the unbreakable bond that holds our family together.

Lord, we ask for your protection over our family, as you promise in Psalm 91:11: “For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.” Keep us safe from harm, both physical and spiritual, and guide us with your wisdom and discernment.

We also pray for your guidance in raising our children, as Proverbs 22:6 advises, “Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.” Help us to nurture their faith, character, and values according to your word.

We lift up any family members who may be facing illness or hardship. As it is written in James 5:14-15, “Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up.” Heal and comfort them, Lord, in your loving and merciful way.

Finally, we give thanks for the promise of eternal life through your son, Jesus Christ, as found in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” May each member of our family come to know and accept this precious gift of salvation.

Lord, we commit our family into your hands, knowing that your plans for us are good and that you work all things together for our good (Romans 8:28). May our family be a testament to your love, grace, and faithfulness.

In Jesus’ name, we pray.

Amen.
