Early on the morning of September 8, 2022, news broke that Queen Elizabeth II’s health had taken a turn for the worst and that her family had been called to stand by her side. As the hours ticked by, the world waited with bated breath to see what was going to happen next.
Later in the day, news came that the Queen had passed. In that moment, not only did the people of England lose a Queen, but members of the Royal Family lost a mother, aunt, and grandmother. Today, pray for those members of the Royal Family in their time of mourning.
Pray These Verses:
Revelation 21:4 (NIV)
“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
Matthew 5:1-4 (NIV)
Now when Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, and he began to teach them. “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”
Psalm 34:17-18 (NIV)
The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
Pray This Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I know that Your Word teaches us that we can pray for comfort and receive it for ourselves, so today, I ask that You comfort the Royal Family as they deal with the tragic passing of Queen Elizabeth II. In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus said that mourners could be blessed because You will provide them with comfort. Today, allow the Royal Family to tangibly feel your presence. We know by the life that she led that Queen Elizabeth was a believer and was completely devoted to You. Because of that, I ask that You allow her family to stand on the promise that there will come a day where You will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and that death will no longer be something that we have to face. You are close to the brokenhearted and You save those who are crushed in spirit. Today, let the Royal Family feel the manifestation of those promises. In Christ’s name I ask these things, Amen.
Thank God:
Father in Heaven, I thank You for blessing this world with someone of the stature of Queen Elizabeth. Thank You for the good things that she did. Most of all, I thank You for being a God who runs to us in our times of mourning, grief, and loss. Thank You for being a God who holds all power in Heaven and on Earth, including the power over death. Most of all, I thank You for the promise of a resurrection and a reunion in Heaven. In Christ’s name, Amen.
