Spirit-Filled Living: Ways to Increase Your Happiness and Faith

3 Mins read

The best way to increase your happiness is to commit to spirit-filled living. By having faith in God and doing the right thing, you’ll gain greater joy in many ways. Here are a few positive actions you can do each day to improve your quality of life.

Pray with a Faithful Heart

Matthew 21:22

And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

When times are tough, it can be difficult to believe in anything. Therefore, you must make a commitment to pray, even when life gets you down. In fact, saying a prayer with a faithful heart can uplift your spirits and give you the peace of mind you need to face your challenges.

Stay focused on why your prayers matter to you and how they may benefit others. You can make an honest effort to be more faithful to God in your mind, body and spirit by reading the Holy Bible and being positive.

Show Kindness to Animals

Galatians 5:22-23

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Showing kindness to animals has the unique power to fill nearly anyone’s spirit with joy. You can be kind by taking your dog for a walk, giving him treats, playing games with him or training him to do various commands.

If you don’t have any pets, consider adopting one from a pet shelter to give a dog, cat or other animal a loving home. All creatures are important, and it’s highly important for us to treat them with genuine respect and love.

Appreciate the Environment

Genesis 2:15

And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.

Instead of wasting time watching television or browsing the internet all day, head outside to appreciate nature. You can do peaceful activities such as plant a tree, ride a bike, take a walk, go for a jog or stop to smell some flowers.

You can also plant a native garden to attract birds, bees, butterflies and other unique creatures. Another idea is to bring nature indoors by planting herbs in pots, opening a curtain to let in the sunshine or hanging nature inspired artwork on the wall.

Be Grateful for Each Day

Psalms 126:3

The LORD hath done great things for us; [whereof] we are glad.

Being grateful for everything you have can help you enjoy it more. Consider writing a few things you’re grateful for each day in a journal. This could be your best friend, grandma, faith in God, flowers, music, your health or something else that resonates with you.

Furthermore, take actions to prove to yourself how grateful you truly are. For instance, if you’re grateful for your grandmother, try telling her how much you care. If you’re grateful for your faith in God, take some time to say a favorite prayer or attend church services.

Do Good Deeds

1 Peter 4:8

And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.

Doing good deeds can make you feel better about yourself. For one, if you see someone in a wheelchair, try opening a door for them. If you see notice a bully taking advantage of someone, defend them.

You never know how much your kind actions might matter to someone. Make every effort to protect those who are vulnerable because God loves everyone, no matter how small they may seem.

Volunteer for a Worthy Cause

1 Corinthians 16:14

Let all your things be done with charity.

Volunteering for a cause you’re passionate about can invigorate your spirit to the highest degree. After all, you have the chance to make someone else’s life easier.

You can volunteer by making cards for kids, writing letters to people with depression, joining a community garden, knitting blankets for babies or writing blog posts for an organization you admire, among other things.

Spend Time with Loved Ones

Psalms 34:3

O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together.

Having family and friends around can fill anyone’s spirit with joy. For this reason, spend quality time with them or communicate with them on a regular basis. You can write letters to each other, talk on the phone or something else. Additionally, always remind yourself how much your family and friends matter to you, even when you have disagreements.

Be Genuine in Your Actions

Jeremiah 17:14

Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou [art] my praise.

The only way your actions will have true meaning is if they’re genuine. You can be more genuine by questioning how your actions affect yourself and others every day or a few times per week. Besides this, be yourself and express your feelings often without fear of judgement. People deserve to know the real you, and you deserve to be loved as you are.
Prayer:

2 Corinthians 12:9

And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
