A Prayer for Better Money Management

2 Mins read

Money is one of the most popular topics in the Bible. Unfortunately, there is a lot of misinformation floating around about how God views money, and in turn, how He wants His people to view money. Some people teach that God will supernaturally put money in your bank account if you give a certain amount, while others teach that God wants His people to live poor, simplistic lives.

While both extremes are wrong, it’s important for God’s people to pray about their money management. Doing so will help you be more obedient to God in your finances, while also minimizing the amount of financial stress that you face.

Pray These Verses

Proverbs 30:24-25 (NIV)
“Four things on earth are small, yet they are extremely wise; Ants are creatures of little strength, yet they store up their food in the summer;”

2 Corinthians 9:6-8 (NIV)
Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

Luke 12:28-29 (NIV)
If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you-you of little faith! And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it.

Pray This Prayer

Heavenly Father, I know that You are aware of how much time I spend stressing about my finances. Even though I am not wealthy, I know in my heart that I have enough, but there are still times where I worry about the idea of being in lack. Help me to trust You completely in my finances.

I know that if You clothe the grass of the field, which is here today and gone tomorrow, You will take perfect care of me. Show me areas in my life where I can be more financially responsible. If the ants know that they need to store up for the future, I should do the same.

Finally, help me to be a cheerful giver. It’s easy for me to look at my finances and say that I don’t have enough to give, but I want to be a blessing to others because of how blessed I am. Help me to sow generously. In Christ’s name I pray, Amen.

Thank God

Heavenly Father, thank You for the financial blessings that You have already given me. I know that everything I have is because of Your goodness. Thank You for giving me everything that I need and giving me enough that I can be a blessing to those who are not as fortunate. In Christ’s name, Amen.
