A Prayer for Reconciliation in Damaged Relationships

2 Mins read

The relationships that we have with others are some of the greatest blessings in our lives. Unfortunately, real life obligations, time, distance, and disagreements can lead to those relationships becoming damaged. God is a God of restoration, and His plans for your life include the restoration of relationships with people who you may have found yourself growing distant from.

God did not create any of us to walk through this world alone, which is why He has blessed us with others, and in turn, blessed others with our presence. Today, if there are damaged relationships in your life, ask God to bring His restoration power into the mix. Nothing is too broken for God to restore.

Pray These Verses:

Matthew 5:23-24 (NIV)
“Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them and offer your gift.”

John 13:34-35 (NIV)
“A new command I give you: Love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

Romans 15:5-6 (NIV)
May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Pray This Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I know that Your goal for Your people involves us living in unity with one another. Unfortunately, there are relationships in my life that no longer fulfill that plan, and I’m asking for Your help to reconcile with the people who I am no longer walking in unity with. Give me the courage to go to those people in order to make things right, and give me the words of love, grace, and truth that are necessary to restore my damaged relationships.

Allow the other person’s heart to be receptive as I begin to work towards the restoration of a relationship with them. I’m asking the same God who gives me encouragement and endurance to give me the power to overcome my own anger, hurt, and bitterness in the name of restoring relationships that have been damaged by any number of things. In Christ’s name, Amen.

Thank God:

Heavenly Father, thank You for giving me the insight necessary to restore broken relationships in Your Word. Thank You for providing me with a path that leads to the kind of unity that You want for Your people. Most of all, thank You for the presence of Your Holy Spirit in my life, and for how He guides me into the paths of righteousness for Your name’s sake. Thank You for the people in my life and the relationships that You have blessed me with. In Christ’s name, Amen.
