A Prayer for Your State

2 Mins read

It’s easy to assume that your life is largely left up to happenstance, but that’s simply not a Scriptural perspective of the life of a believer. Child of God, Scripture teaches us that every detail of our lives, no matter how large or small they may seem to you and I, are ordained and ordered by our Heavenly Father, including the place that we call home. Today, spend some time praying for your state and its leadership, as we continue to try to navigate our way through a world that has changed completely over the last couple years.

Pray These Verses

1 Timothy 2:1-4 (NIV)
I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people-for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Pray This Prayer:
Dear Lord, today I want to pray for the leaders who you have set up in authority in my home state. Father, if they are not currently in a relationship with You, I ask that the Holy Spirit convict them of their sins and that they would recognize their need of a Savior, accepting the sacrifice that You made for them when You offered Your only Son on Calvary. If the leaders of my state don’t recognize You as the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords, please God, draw them into a relationship with You just like You did with me, causing them to recognize their own sins and the price that You paid for their forgiveness. If my state’s leaders do know You, I ask that You bless them in every work that they perform in their role as a leader of my state. Expand the platform of my governors, senators, state representatives and others, as they work to not only improve the lives of the people in their jurisdiction, but as they work to expand Your Kingdom here on earth. Father, I ask that you encourage my state’s leaders to continue in their good works as they look for opportunities to do the right thing for their constituents while also living according to Your Word. Constantly remind them of the fact that they are in their position because You have entrusted it to them. I ask all of these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Thank God:
God, I thank You for putting me in the state that I call home, as I know that You order every step of my life. Thank You for the people that You have set in positions of authority over those of us who call this state home, as I know that they are a part of Your plan. Finally, thank You in advance for blessing those leaders and guiding them into Your Truth as they serve their role that You have given them.
