Asking God to Help You Stop Complaining

2 Mins read

Gratitude is one of the greatest things that we can experience. When you truly evaluate your life and all the good things in it, it’s hard not to be grateful. Unfortunately, we live in a society that teaches us that we should always be looking for something bigger and better before we can truly be thankful. This often leads to complaining, which is not what God wants for His people. Today, ask the Holy Spirit to help you stop being a complainer so you can be a more grateful person.

Pray These Verses

James 1:16-17 (NIV)
Don’t be deceived, my dear brothers and sisters. Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

Psalm 103:1-5 (NIV)
Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits-who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

Romans 12:1-2 (NIV)
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God-this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is-his good, pleasing, and perfect will.

Pray This Prayer

Heavenly Father, I know that I have a tendency to focus on the negative things in my life. I know that I tend to overlook many of the blessings that You have bestowed upon me. Today, I stand on the truth that every good thing in my life, no matter how inconsequential I have considered it in the past, is a beautiful gift from You. You give me gifts because You love me, and that truly leaves me astounded. Today, I will bless You with all my soul. I will praise Your holy name with my inmost being. Help me to not forget your benefits in the daily routine of my life. In Christ’s name I ask for Your help to stop complaining so I can praise You more fully. In Christ’s name, Amen.

Thank God

Heavenly Father, today I thank You for all the things that I may have forgotten to thank You for. Thank You for the home that I live in, as I know that it provides me with shelter. Thank You for my job, as I know that it provides me with the income that I need to live. Thank You for the clothes that I have and the food that I eat. Thank You for every good thing in my life, because I know they’re all gifts from You. In Christ’s name, Amen.
