Getting Your Priorities in Order Through Prayers

2 Mins read

How many priorities are competing for top billing in your life? How many distractions do you have to sift through every day in your quest to keep your life in order. On the surface level, we’re all faced with countless distractions that take our attention away from the tasks that we have to complete. When you’re sitting alone in your office, how many times do you stop what you’re doing to scroll through your social media feeds? When you’re supposed to be studying for a big exam, how much time do you spend responding to text messages that have nothing to do with the test that you have to take? Thanks to technological advances, we all have countless distractions that we must navigate every day.

Our spiritual lives are under an even more prevalent attack. While we know that God’s Kingdom and our commitment to Him should be the most important thing in our lives, we often find ourselves distracted. When Satan can get us distracted, he can not only get us to miss out on the things that God wants us to do, but he can also cause us to miss out on the things that God is doing in our lives. Today, ask God to help you keep the most important things at the top of your list of priorities.

Pray These Verses
Hebrews 12:1-2 (NIV)
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy that set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Luke 12:29-31 (NIV)
And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it. For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that you need them. But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.

Romans 12:2 (NIV)
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is-his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Pray This Prayer
Heavenly Father, help me to keep my priorities in the order that You want them to be in. I know that I am faced with things that would shift my focus away from You every day of my life. Sometimes, I can’t fight those distractions off. I lose focus. I start worrying about things that I don’t need to worry about. I find myself trying to run the race while I am entangled with things that are doing nothing but slowing me down. Help me to not think the same way that the world thinks. Help me to know Your will and keep Your Kingdom in my priorities and at the forefront of my mind. In Christ’s name, Amen.

Thank God
Heavenly Father, thank You for allowing me to be a part of Your Kingdom. Thank You for having a purpose for me. Thank You for allowing me to know Your will. Most of all, thank You for the fact that I can be victorious over the things that would try to distract me. In Christ’s name, Amen.
