Renew Your Commitment to Christ Through Prayer

2 Mins read

No matter how hard we try, there are times where we find ourselves drifting, allowing our relationship with Christ to suffer. In the same way that we occasionally need to remind ourselves of our other commitments in life, there are times where we must remind ourselves of the commitment that Christ expects from us. Today, ask the Holy Spirit to help you refocus yourself so you can renew your commitment to Christ. The Father is waiting for you, eager to help you renew your commitment to discipleship.

Pray These Verses

1 Kings 8:60-61 (NIV)
“So that all the peoples of the earth may know that the Lord is God and that there is no other. And may your hearts be fully committed to the Lord our God, to live by his decrees and obey his commands, as at this time.”

1 Peter 2:9-10 (NIV)
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

Deuteronomy 7:9 *NIV)
Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.

Pray This Prayer

Heavenly Father, I know that there are times in which I allow myself to become distracted by the things going on in life. Unfortunately, in those moments, it’s not uncommon for me to drift away from You. It’s not uncommon for me to find myself feeling distant from You through my own doing.

Today, I ask You to help me recommit myself to You and to Your call of true discipleship in my life. I know that besides You, there is no God and I want my heart to be fully committed to You, Your decrees, and Your commands. I know that I am part of a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, and a holy nation, and I want my role in that group to be the most important thing in my life. Help me to be as faithful to You as You are to me. In Christ’s name, Amen.

Thank God

Heavenly Father, thank You for being faithful even when I am not. Thank You for being willing to forgive me and renew me when I allow myself to be pulled away by the cares of life. Thank You for Your covenant with me that I know You are fully committed to keeping. Thank You for the power and the presence of the Holy Spirit who helps me to make the changes that I need to make so I can maintain my commitment to You. In Christ’s name, Amen.
