Improving Your Worship Through Prayer

2 Mins read

Worship is one of the most powerful ways for us to connect to God. While we often assume that worship is tied directly to music, that’s not necessarily the case. While most churches have worship teams that lead people into the presence of God through song, worship is intended to be a lifestyle. In fact, God longs for His people to live their lives in a perpetual state of worship.

One of the definitions of “worship” includes the idea of being completely consumed by a higher power or deity. When we commit our lives to the worship of God, we can truly be overcome with the power of the Holy Spirit, allowing us to live in the state of overflow that God has for us.

It is certainly important to take part in corporate praise and worship with your local church. However, that’s only part of the equation. Today, ask God to transform you into a true worshiper, the kind the God is looking for.

Pray These Verses
John 4:23-24 (NIV)
“Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in Spirit and in truth.”

Psalm 63:1-4 (NIV)
You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water. I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory. Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands.

Romans 12:1 (NIV)
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God-this is your true and proper worship.

Pray This Prayer
Heavenly Father, I want my worship to be more than something that I do on Sunday mornings. Today, I offer you my body, my life, as a living sacrifice because of the mercy that You have shown to me. I know that this is the least that I can do, but it’s my first step in becoming a true worshiper. I know that we are living in the time where You are looking for true worshipers, the kind who will worship in the Spirit and in truth. Today, I commit my life to earnestly seeking You. I thirst for you in this dry and parched land where I live. I have seen Your power, and I know that I will see it again. Your love is better than life, and I will praise and worship You as long as I live. In Christ’s name, Amen.

Thank God
Heavenly Father, thank You for all of the good things that I have seen You do in my life. Thank You for forgiving me, for saving me, and for pulling me out of the miry clay of sin. Thank You for the power that is made manifest in my life when I commit myself to truly worshiping You. In Christ’s name, Amen.
